Author: Game Hype

Mato Anomalies developed by Arrowiz Games caught my eye a while ago and publishers Prime Matter were kind enough to send us a review copy of their turn-based RPG/Visual Novel/Deck-building hybrid. Initially Mato sees you take control of two main protagonists, Doe, a smart mouthed private detective tying to make a difference in his city and Gram, a mysterious hobo-ninja (or Shaman as the game describes him) who seems to be linked to the strange goings on. As you play you’ll gain more characters join your party. The Butterly was my favourite even if she does say ‘guy’ far too…

“Our end begins…” Following last year’s colossal expansion: The Witch Queen, Destiny 2 is back with it’s offering for 2023 in the form of the long-awaited and hyped: Lightfall, which is Destiny 2’s second to last expansion for the Light and Darkness Saga, which began with Destiny back in 2014. Featuring a new campaign, the new Strand subclass, a new raid, multiple exotics and a plethora of QoL changes across the board, Lightfall definitely brings a lot to the table, but does it live up to the expectations laid out by it’s predecessor? The expansion dropped on the 28th February…

Follow up to the greatest Story never told (Outside of Japan at least) The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is the follow up to The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero which saw just a release late last year outside of Japan and follows the story of Lloyd Bannings in the second and final part of the Crossbell arc. The Trails series at this point is a pretty big deal with it feeling like a new game is coming out with another one seemingly just around the corner and with so much of the Story and the games out…

Scars Above – “Raiding Tombs in Space” Scars Above is a third-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future. It borrows elements from various games, including Tomb Raider 2013, Mass Effect series, Returnal and Dark souls. The game is Developed by Mad Head Games, which I need to become more familiar with, but after looking them up, it is clear that they love adventure-style games. Upon starting Scars Above, we are greeted with an impressive-looking cutscene. An unknown Alien vessel stations itself just outside of earth’s orbit. Humanity has questions that they want answering. So they assemble a specialist team known as the SCAR…

Simple, yet fun Little Witch Nobeta is a 3D action shooter game in which you play as the witch Nobeta as she traverses her way through a castle and accompanied by a little black cat, she tries to locate the throne within the castle.   I had a good time playing Little Witch Nobeta, the gameplay and art style of the game is rather simplistic, yet I still found myself enjoying the game. There are many unique aspects that make the game stand out from others, for example, praying. In the castle, in order to save your game progress, you…

A sensational samurai story to rival the best… It’s been nearly a decade of waiting for most, but at long last, the day has finally come. Like a Dragon Ishin (previously Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!) has strategically hacked and slashed it’s way to the West – samurai style. Ishin! was originally released in Japan way back in 2014 for PlayStation 3 & 4, and dare I say, long before my relatively new found love for the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series – a series for me that started with Zero, 5, 6 and then Yakuza: Like a Dragon. (I promise i’ll…

Alternate History is fun. The last few decades have seen a surge in the “what ifs” and “what could’ve been” in the forms of movies, TV shows, books and of course – video games. Games such as Wolfenstein, Fallout, Resistance and Red Alert have used alternative history as a backdrop to create a world that never was, and in the process has created some very interesting and elaborate results of what the world could’ve been. While the medium is usually about a world where the Nazis win WW2 and expand their ideology and culture around the world, I’ve always wondered…

Ten Dates is a live action, interactive rom com which is a sequel to the first game in the series titled, Five Dates. In the second instalment in the Dates franchise, you take control of either Misha, or her best friend Ryan as you attend different dates in order to find true love.  As this game is filmed with real actors in a live action setting, the gameplay in the game is somewhat reminiscent of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, in which you choose between one of two choices which then determine what the character you’re playing as does and says.
