The extensive Stardew Valley mod that combines ConcernedApe’s beloved farming simulator with Baldur’s Gate 3 was initially removed yesterday but has now been restored due to backlash from Larian Studios and a formal apology from Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast.
This mod, known as Baldur’s Village, is a fan-made expansion that introduces elements from the Baldur’s Gate 3 universe into Stardew Valley. Upon its launch by creator Xun, it received commendation from Larian’s lead Swen Vincke, who recognized their “amazing work.” Consequently, when news broke of a DMCA takedown issued by Wizards of the Coast, Vincke stood up for the mod.
A good ending. Happy for Xun, Kawaner, Yudeling, Haruka, and Sirris. I hope they get to develop a lot more of it. And also good on WOTC for fixing this swiftly. March 31, 2025
“I hope they get to develop a lot more of it. And also good on WotC for fixing this swiftly,” added fellow Larian developer, publishing director Michael “Cromwelp” Douse, who echoed similar sentiments in his own response to the initial takedown. It seems that “Baldur’s Village” is here to stay, and it’s safe to say that there is indeed “a lot more” content in store for this mod.
Long live Baldur’s Village! March 31, 2025
Creator Xun has previously shared that they have invested over 1,500 hours into Stardew Valley, emphasizing that work on Baldur’s Village is far from complete and promising to continue enhancing it despite their busy schedule. As a fan of both the farming simulator and the RPG genre, I am eager to see additional Baldur’s Gate 3 companions join the adventures in Pelican Town – for now, Astarion is more than enough to keep me entertained.
