Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have taken to social media, expressing a desire for more chances for Gale, the wizard known for his quirky humor, to show off his physical form. However, a developer has indicated that it might be too late for these changes. The excitement surrounding Baldur’s Gate 3 has brought a new wave of RPG enthusiasts to the forefront, and it seems everyone has something to say, especially when it comes to romance options. While a lot of players are eager to pursue a relationship with Shadowheart, some have rallied behind Gale, getting creative in their demands.
One Twitter user, known as bbl gale (@galesleftball), commented, “Baldur’s Gate 3 lowkey did NOT deserve GOTY simply for the fact that there isn’t a single Gale showering scene. I wanted to see Gale taking a shower. For Reasons.” In response, Larian Studios’ publishing director, Michael “Cromwelp” Douse, noted, “This sort of feedback is a lot more useful during early access.”
The conversation has sparked a movement, with fans chanting “#ShowTheGaleBalls” as they plead for more representation of Gale’s nudity in-game. This raises a fun question: what is meant by #ShowTheGaleBalls? Every character has the ability to strip down in Baldur’s Gate 3, so does Gale simply hide his assets? After a little investigation (I asked a friend who plays the game to check, since I wasn’t about to download the 148 GB file myself), it turns out that, yes, Gale does have everything rendered and can show them at any point. So perhaps fans should focus more on those shower scenes than just the idea of nudity.
Personally, I found Gale to be an interesting character, but after he attempted to flirt with me post-battle against the orphan child’s ghost parents, I wasn’t so sure anymore. Lae’zel’s harsh words about my romantic inclinations didn’t help either, leading me to join the majority who side with Team Shart.
In a recent discussion, Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke expressed his satisfaction with developers reflecting on their previous RPG efforts but also reminded fans that it’s essential to appreciate the positives as well.
