Baldur’s Gate 3’s eighth patch is scheduled for release on April 15. As anticipation builds, the developers at Larian Studios are generating a significant buzz about the scale of this update.
“It’s massive,” stated Michael “Cromwelp” Douse, Larian’s publishing director, as he shared via retweet our earlier report on the upcoming Patch 8. “Details soon. The ultimate Baldur’s Gate experience! I can’t wait to experience it again and again.”
While the exact timing for these “details” remains uncertain, they are expected to arrive as part of the patch notes. And according to Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian and the director of BG3, it promises to be a remarkable list. “I just reviewed 48 pages of patch notes on this,” Vincke mentioned in a tweet. “If there were a Michelin guide for patches, I’d rate this one 3 stars.”
Patch 8 is anticipated to be the last significant update for Baldur’s Gate 3, with Larian aiming to conclude the game on a high note. Over the past few months, the update has been in a stress-testing phase for players, revealing some aspects of what’s to come. Confirmed features include 12 new subclasses, crossplay capabilities, and a photo mode. However, additional surprises await discovery once the patch launches on April 15.
“I hope I get to play him again”: Astarion, one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s favorite characters, expressed his desire to see the beloved vampire return in a sequel, humorously suggesting that he “would have to be dead” before being recast.
