Blizzard Entertainment has recently released an updated roadmap for Diablo 4 for the year 2025, detailing some insights regarding seasons 9 and 10. They have also confirmed that a new expansion is set for launch in 2026 and teased several additional updates, including some intriguing “new IP collaborations.”
The upcoming crossovers, scheduled for season 8 in the second quarter and season 10 in the fourth quarter, have raised concerns that Diablo 4 may take a direction similar to Fortnite. However, Blizzard reassures fans that these partnerships will “blend the Diablo world with realms that enhance its dark themes.” Details on which other worlds will be involved are yet to be disclosed.
While the bulk of season 8, called Belial’s Return, has been shared previously, new information about the upcoming content for the remainder of the year has surfaced. Season 9, titled Sins of the Horadrim, promises a return to Nightmare Dungeons with fresh activities and interactions that will allow players to increase the dungeon’s intensity while hunting down the barons of Hell. Moreover, the season will implement keyboard and mouse support for console players.

“Infernal Horde is becoming more chaotic as we put new choices into your hands. Plus, advanced options between Infernal Waves will arrive, too.”– Blizzard
The tenth season, known as Infernal Chaos, is expected to bring updates to the Infernal Horde system. Blizzard notes, “Infernal Horde is becoming more chaotic as we put new choices into your hands.” Additionally, advanced options to navigate through Infernal Waves will be introduced. Both seasons are set to feature pets that players can earn.
In addition to the new seasons, players can anticipate “core system updates” aimed at enhancing the Battle Pass and Seasonal Journey, making these features “more rewarding.” The full roadmap can be viewed above, which also reiterates Blizzard’s prior confirmation that the following expansion is not set to release until 2026. Notably, the artwork for next year’s banner obscures what appears to be a “new…” feature coming in 2026, indicating that the developers have other surprises planned.
Blizzard mentioned that Diablo 4’s most powerful item modifiers were developed at the last minute: “Literally, we had 2 weeks left in the development schedule.”
