Christopher Judge, renowned for his powerful portrayal of Kratos in Sony Santa Monica’s God of War franchise, recently shared his aspiration for the upcoming installment of the series to be set in Egypt—a concept that certainly piques interest. During a panel at MCM London Comic Con, as relayed to GamesRadar+ via press release, Judge appeared to allude to, then retract, hints regarding the possibility of a third game within Sony’s reimagined God of War saga. The most recent outing, God of War Ragnarok, released in 2022, was met with both critical acclaim and commercial success but has yet to see an announcement for a sequel, at least publicly.
“Because I became best known as Teal’c from Stargate, going to Egypt would be a completion of my circle,” Judge stated. “But whatever is decided—wait… if there is another game, I am confident that no matter which pantheon it is based on, it will be great.”
Speculations and Future Directions
The idea of a God of War narrative set in ancient Egypt is undeniably compelling, and it would offer a significant visual and thematic departure from previous titles—a full circle moment for Judge. However, as of now, PlayStation has made no announcements or teasers regarding a new entry post-Ragnarok. Judge’s remarks do not confirm the development of a sequel. Nevertheless, both God of War (2018) and Ragnarok enjoyed immense popularity and strong sales, and it’s worth noting that without revealing too much, the conclusion of Ragnarok certainly hints at future possibilities.
In light of all this, whether Judge’s slip was unintentional or not, it is hard to believe Sony would choose not to continue the series. After three lengthy years, the anticipation to return to that rich universe is palpable.
