A noteworthy revelation during the Nintendo Direct focusing on the Nintendo Switch 2 was the presentation of Star Wars Outlaws, which is currently exclusive to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
In a recent discussion, Digital Foundry’s technology editor Richard Leadbetter remarked, “I think this one’s quite surprising, to be honest, Star Wars Outlaws. This is like a technologically demanding game on the new Snowdrop engine for Ubisoft Massive. The concept that it’s running on this class of hardware is pretty mind-blowing, I’d say.”
Digital Foundry contributor Oliver Mackenzie added that Star Wars Outlaws presents “a really exciting port, possibly an impossible port, if you will,” highlighting its vast scale and advanced features like ray tracing. Notably, there is no PlayStation 4 version available, in contrast to other third-party games such as Elden Ring and Street Fighter 6 that were released on last-gen consoles.
Finally, Digital Foundry video producer Alex Battaglia expressed that Star Wars Outlaws is “By far the most technically ambitious game that we’ve seen mentioned as having been ported to Switch 2, like by far.”
