Recently, journalist Laura Kate Dale attended the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in London, where she had the chance to test the upcoming game Drag x Drive. An intriguing moment arose when Dale overheard staff at the booth telling another visitor that they were instructed to refer to the wheelchairs used by players as “vehicles” instead of wheelchairs. This sentiment was echoed by fellow gaming journalist Chris Scullion, who also reported hearing similar comments from a booth attendant.
At the London Switch 2 hands on experience today, and heard something that stood out. Two staff on the Drag X Drive booth mentioned they’d been told to refer to these as “vehicles” and not wheelchairs. I got clarification they’d been told to do so. – Laura Kate Dale
I was told the same thing, and not at that particular booth. Was playing something else and staff asked me what else I had tried. I keep forgetting the game’s name (I keep thinking ‘Drag x Drop’) so I said “the one with the wheelchairs is interesting”, and she replied “oh, we call them vehicles” – Chris Scullion
