Some players of Battlefield 6 who purchased the game via the EA app faced temporary access issues at launch, but the publisher is now attempting to rectify the situation with “perks.” Battlefield 6 has garnered significant acclaim, becoming the top-rated entry in the franchise over recent years. It also shattered EA’s Steam records, boasting over 700,000 concurrent players almost instantly. However, the launch was not without hitches. A “purchase to play” glitch on the EA app hindered players from accessing the multiplayer and campaign modes, erroneously prompting them to buy non-existent DLC. Vince Zampella, the game’s lead developer and a former creator of Titanfall, commented on the matter, stating it was “honestly embarrassing.” Fortunately, the issue was swiftly addressed, especially for a launch of this magnitude.
EA’s Response and Compensation for Players
In addition to resolving the glitch, EA expressed its commitment to addressing players’ frustrations. “Today, we encountered an outage on the EA app that hindered access for some players who pre-ordered Battlefield 6. We understand this is frustrating, and we want to apologize… with perks,” the studio announced in an in-game message shared on Reddit. The fix has been implemented, but EA’s efforts don’t stop there. Players affected on the EA app will receive 12 Hardware Boosters and 12 Career 60-Minute Boosters, which are expected to appear in their in-game inboxes over the weekend. Furthermore, impacted players will gain access to a season Battle Pass. Owners of the Phantom Edition who were affected will also be granted access to the full Battle Pass for Season 2.
Battlefield 6 Review Insights
Battlefield 6 has been described as “more refined than innovative.” Despite criticisms regarding the campaign’s depth, it remains on point with its multiplayer offerings.
