The closed beta for Elden Ring Nightreign wrapped up last month after five sessions, each lasting three hours. Publisher Bandai Namco has released some fascinating statistics highlighting player performance. While many players achieved notable success in defeating bosses, others faced significant challenges.
To kick things off, let’s take a look at the standout moments. It appears that the Golden Hippopotamus from Shadow of the Erdtree was the most defeated enemy, with an astounding 194,996 of these creatures taken down during the beta testing. Next up were the Flame Chariots, racking up 164,974 victories, followed closely by the Fire Monk at 150,128. The Flying Dragon of the Hills saw 147,202 defeats, but there was a substantial drop to the Royal Army Knights, who were only felled 98,738 times.
For those who persevered through to the game’s third day to challenge Night Lord Gladius, Beast of the Night, there were 58,615 hard-earned victories. Although this number is notably lower than that of the Golden Hippopotamus, it reflects the increased difficulty players faced to reach this encounter. Kudos to those who managed to claim victory here.
However, the statistics paint a more nuanced picture of the challenges players confronted. In Nightreign, players can revive their allies by attacking them, and it seems this mechanic was heavily utilized.
According to Bandai Namco, a staggering “23,627,489 attacks were used to save downed Nightfarers.” This impressive figure likely includes numerous attempts to help allies back to their feet since reviving requires multiple hits. This statistic certainly underscores the frequent defeats players experienced during gameplay.
Perhaps the most shocking statistic revolves around the runes lost during the beta. Players collectively saw a loss of 37,957,453,867 runes—a figure that seems almost surreal at nearly 38 billion.
To put it in perspective, this means over two and a half billion runes were lost every hour, translating to roughly 42 million per minute. This is indeed wild given the limited number of hours players were active, especially considering that many faced significant server issues during the initial session, resulting in missed gameplay opportunities.
All things considered, we can anticipate even more suffering and victories when Elden Ring Nightreign is officially released. Mark your calendars, as the game will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One starting May 30.
The random events in Elden Ring Nightreign promise to deliver some of the most entertaining moments FromSoftware has ever created, featuring everything from a rain of ants to delightful Morgott jump scares.
