Today’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct revealed a wealth of announcements, leaving the team from GamesRadar+—now just me in these late hours—sifting through a lot of exciting content that would typically steal the spotlight. One notable update that got somewhat overshadowed amid the Switch 2 revelations is the introduction of Elden Ring: Tarnished, which essentially brings the acclaimed Elden Ring experience to the new console.
To give ourselves some credit, we acknowledged earlier that Elden Ring is set to join a group of major titles that are making their way to the Nintendo Switch 2, including heavy hitters like Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. However, Bandai Namco has provided additional information regarding the newly unveiled features that will be available in Elden Ring: Tarnished, as well as updates for the original Elden Ring game across all platforms.
According to an announcement on the official Bandai Namco website, the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the Switch 2 will encompass everything from the original game as well as the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Players can look forward to “new armor, weapons, and customization options for Torrent’s look.” Interestingly, the FromSoftware Twitter account in Japan confirmed the addition of four new armor pieces, although details about new weapons were not included.
Moreover, Bandai has assured fans that the new features coming with the Tarnished Edition will also be accessible on other platforms, meaning everyone will have access to the same content. The only piece of information we’re lacking, however, is the exact release date for this package. For now, all we know is that it’s set to arrive on the Switch 2 sometime in 2025.
In the UK and Germany, it appears you can pre-order the Switch 2 a week ahead of its official launch as Nintendo starts sending out invitation links to eager buyers.
