According to two former marketing executives from Nintendo, the triumph of major AAA titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam Deck sets a promising precedent for similar achievements on the upcoming Switch 2.
In a recent episode of the Kit & Krysta podcast, hosted by veteran Nintendo employees Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang, they discussed their optimism for a flourishing AAA gaming ecosystem on the Switch 2. Their insights primarily hinge on the substantial popularity of the Switch, especially in contrast to its predecessor, the beloved yet commercially unsuccessful Wii U. Additionally, they highlight the impressive sales of graphically intensive AAA titles on Steam Deck as evidence of a robust market for scaled-back versions of these games on handheld platforms.
“I’m referring to titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk among others. While the full capabilities of the Switch 2 remain unknown, it’s reasonable to speculate that if these games can run on a Steam Deck, they could likely function on a Switch 2 as well,” he adds.
