If you’ve ever fantasized about stomping on a crocodile, taking on a grizzly bear, and shoving someone onto train tracks, look no further than one of the finest open-world experiences, Red Dead Redemption 2. For those who prefer an arcade twist, there’s a wonderfully chaotic Mortal Kombat mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 that will meet your needs. Developed by Blurbs, the same modder/streamer responsible for a controversial mod that forces players to witness the memories of slain NPCs, this new creation was brought to life during a live stream, drawing inspiration from viewers, including one who initially proposed the idea. Check out a montage of Blurbs’ creation process below:
Watch On
The mod essentially delivers on its promise, albeit with some noticeable quirks. When you engage in combat with either a human or an animal, the camera shifts to a side view as Arthur faces his opponent. The mod incorporates a simple Mortal Kombat-style user interface alongside graphic blood effects, encapsulating that classic Mortal Kombat brutality.
Exciting Additions to Red Dead Redemption 2 Mods
- Red Dead Redemption 2 now features NPCs with “actual memories you are forced to watch when they die” thanks to a modder with too much power, and what’s worse is his Twitch chat wrote the script.
- A modder found the strongest weapon in the Wild West: 4-year-old Jack Marston, who surprisingly packs a punch as a thrown weapon.
- I love Red Dead Redemption 2 more than any other Rockstar game, and after 7 years, it continues to impart crucial lessons for GTA 6.
While the mod doesn’t seem to be available for public download yet, it’s definitely a treat to witness Arthur Morgan take down random cowboys, stomp on a crocodile, and endure grizzly bear attacks in these Mortal Kombat-styled encounters. One standout moment is when Arthur exacts his revenge on Micah by pushing him in front of an oncoming train. Talk about a fatality! However, my least favorite aspect is Arthur’s “plague cough” fatality, which leaves Micah spraying blood from every pore—now that’s just grotesque.
