Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is still cloaked in mystery, but one thing we do know is that there’s going to be a revamped version of Queen’s Blood, the beloved card game that made its debut in Rebirth. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that fans can look forward to an enhanced experience with this mini-game in the upcoming installment.
“Queen’s Blood is a very popular and beloved minigame, and I believe a lot of people are still wanting something like that,” Hamaguchi mentioned in a chat with Polygon. “I want to expand on Queen’s Blood so that we are enhancing it, and giving you a more powered-up version of it when you see that third installment… Queen’s Blood is still going to be available in the third installment. We just want to expand on it.”
Now, I’ll be honest, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth already swallows up a huge chunk of time. I often hesitate to dive into minigames that aren’t tied to the core story. But I can’t help it—once Queen’s Blood clicks, it’s just incredibly satisfying, and there’s even a dedicated side quest linked to it that’s definitely worth your while. So I’m both excited and a bit anxious to see how time management will play out with Part 3’s even bigger version of Queen’s Blood on the table.
In addition to this, the threequel is reviving the snowboarding minigame from the original Final Fantasy 7. However, this time around, it seems it’ll have a more significant connection to the storyline, which raises some intriguing questions. “Snowboarding! This is something that fans have really deep memories about!” Hamaguchi commented. “I’m afraid I can’t delve too much into the details, but we understand that it’s not going to be just a simple snowboarding minigame. We want to make sure that it’s incorporated into the story to have that sort of connection with the theming of it.”
As for a release date, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 doesn’t have anything set in stone just yet. Hamaguchi shared with Polygon that the game is currently in a “playable” state but still requires some “polish.” This hints that development is more advanced than many might expect, especially since Rebirth just launched under two years ago.
