Exciting news about the third installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake (dubbed Part 3, Revengeance, Reunion, or something else entirely) may be just around the corner. Director Naoki Hamaguchi is reportedly immersed in development, often working from hotel rooms far from Square Enix’s headquarters in Japan.
During a panel at MCM London Comic Con, Hamaguchi was joined by several members of the game’s voice cast. A fan, perhaps unaware of the ongoing conversations surrounding Part 3, inquired about rumors of its cancellation. Hamaguchi promptly reassured him, stating, “That is absolutely not happening, it is going ahead.” He emphasized, “We’re working very hard on the third part of the trilogy now… and the whole team are working to create a buzz around the Final Fantasy Remake series.” Furthermore, Square Enix is committed to delivering updates in the near future.
Development Updates on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3
According to Hamaguchi, development for Part 3 is going smoothly and the majority of the JRPG is “already playable.” He stated, “Development is going extremely well.” Following the mixed reactions to the ending of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, he reassured fans that the trilogy’s conclusion is in “safe hands” and that it will “really reward everyone for sticking with us to the end.”
Dedicating his efforts, Hamaguchi noted that he planned to continue working immediately after the panel concluded. He expressed, “You probably want to know when the third game is coming out. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you that today, but rest assured it’s going well and we’re working very hard on it. As soon as this panel finishes, I’m getting off stage, running straight to my hotel room and back to checking some of the levels in the game that we’ve already created.”
Fan Feedback and Creative Direction
Reassuring fans further, the director indicated that while taking feedback into account, the upcoming title will strive for a more streamlined experience. He described that Part 3 will aim to be a bit more “concise,” even if he did not believe that Rebirth included excessive filler chapters. Hamaguchi emphasized the importance of creative integrity, stating, “however much AI might try and intrude and take part in the creative side of things,” the team aims to be “good enough creators” to outperform AI in their craftsmanship.
