Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle Discontinued

Nintendo has reportedly discontinued the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle, a move confirmed by an internal memo leak followed by GameStop’s acknowledgment. This development comes on the heels of a strong backlash regarding the game’s pricing and overall reception. Thankfully for fans, many managed to snag the title for just $50 as part of the launch bundle, giving it a redeeming quality amidst the criticisms that an $80 price tag felt a bit much—especially when considering the game didn’t quite meet the lofty expectations built over the past decade.
When the bundle was first unveiled, it was clear it would only be around for a “Limited time production through Fall 2025.” As we’ve crossed into winter, it seems Nintendo stayed true to that pledge by wrapping up production of this bundle.
Reports from Nintendeal on Twitter revealed a supposed internal memo from GameStop that states, “This bundle SKU has now reached end of lifecycle, and additional units will no longer be produced.” The memo goes on to suggest that stores recommend this bundle to customers given the savings, adding, “Future replenishment of Nintendo Switch 2 will be the base console.” GameStop took to Twitter later to confirm the memo’s authenticity, stating that “The Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle will no longer be produced,” urging shoppers to grab one “while supplies last.” As of now, the bundle is still listed on the Nintendo store website, so it seems there are still some units up for grabs.
With the recent launch of a Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 bundle, it’s reasonable to think that big-name titles like Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing could also see similar bundles in the future, each bundled with discounts on their respective games. Given that Nintendo has done this with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe before, it wouldn’t shock me if the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle resurfaces during future sales events like Black Friday.
In the meantime, the latest Mario Kart World update does make playing with friends simpler, improves certain tracks, and finally allows players to crank the soundtrack up to the good old “Loud” setting. There’s always hope for enhancements, right?
