Genshin Impact’s upcoming update 6.1 will introduce an innovative game creator and social hub known as Miliastra Wonderland. This new mode promises players a permanent user-generated content (UGC) space filled with unique characters and rewards. First mentioned by developer HoYoverse over a year ago, Miliastra Wonderland was officially revealed during the 6.1 special presentation. Players can expect to dive into this new feature starting October 22, although those in the US may get an early start on October 21.
### Exciting New Features and Characters
Alongside the new Nod-Krai Archon Quest and the introduction of the 5-star character Nefer, Miliastra Wonderland is poised to be one of the main attractions of the update. The mode will receive continued enhancements in future patches, similar to Genshin’s house-building feature. Players will gain access to it early in the game’s Archon Quest—around the same time they unlock the Wish function—allowing immediate engagement for active users.
Miliastra Wonderland enables players to design and share their own stages and levels using a variety of assets, environments, parameters, and enemies. The design interface features visual logic trees reminiscent of Unreal Engine’s behavior trees, eliminating the need for coding. At launch, HoYoverse promises “hundreds” of stages across various genres, including simulation management, party games, PvP battles, and adventure challenges. Notably, user-generated stages will be showcased through a rotating system, rewarding well-rated creations with additional rewards for their designers. The specifics of the “Creator Earnings System” are still under wraps, although a substantial update slated for Luna IV (update 6.3) is expected to shed more light on this feature. Progressing in rank as a “Craftsperson” will unlock various new options and capabilities for stage creation.
### Gameplay Elements and Customization
Players will control a new character called the Manekin in this game mode. This character can be customized with outfits earned and crafted by participating in various activities in Wonderland and through rank-ups. While the Manekin can roam outside Wonderland, it’s essential to note that the character cannot be used in the Spiral Abyss, Imaginarium Theater, or Stygian Onslaught. The elemental abilities of your Manekin will align with your Traveler’s current loadout, but the customization aspect appears to be its primary allure.
Wonderland will also feature its own cosmetic banner and a paid battle pass. The good news is that purchasing the standard battle pass will grant you access to the Wonderland version without additional cost, as confirmed during the English reveal stream. Instead of Primogems, the new cosmetic banner in Wonderland operates on a new currency called Geodes of Replication, which players can earn through weekly challenges, rank-ups, events, and the battle pass. Certain outfits will only be available for a limited time, while others may be crafted from materials once players have obtained the necessary blueprints. Customization extends to clothing and accessories, allowing for piece-by-piece alterations or the use of complete sets.
Historically, Genshin Impact has offered limited skins for premium characters, but Wonderland appears to have a wealth of cosmetics available for the Manekin. Players will have the opportunity to share many unlocked or purchased cosmetics with friends, and there will also be temporary rental vouchers for specific outfits. The potential for earning non-Wonderland rewards, such as Primogems and character ascension materials, through gameplay in this mode remains unclear.
### Expanding the Genshin Universe
Miliastra Wonderland comes at a time when UGC-centered platforms like Roblox, as well as builder games such as Fortnite and Minecraft, are amassing vast audiences, often appealing to younger demographics. Roblox, in fact, reportedly garners more active users than Steam on certain days, suggesting that HoYoverse is smart to explore this formula with its most significant title.
The intention behind Wonderland seems to be attracting new users into the Genshin ecosystem, engaging them in the game while simultaneously providing fresh, sustainable content that the developers can share without needing to create each element from scratch. As the UGC mode unfolds, it will be intriguing to see its reception among different player types.
