A fresh update to GTA Online is bringing back some familiar faces, but it also seems to hide a little tease for a potential cameo in GTA 6 coming next year. At least, that’s what a number of fans are speculating. You’ve probably caught wind that Michael De Santa and his wife Amanda—one-third of GTA V’s iconic trio—are making an appearance in the “A Safehouse in the Hills” update. This release not only lets players show off a decade’s worth of criminal gains by purchasing a lavish mansion complete with trophy cabinets, a posh salon, and even animal kennels but also brings back some nostalgic vibes.
What really stands out in this update are the references to the couple’s son, Jimmy—the slacker stoner who just lounged around gaming in GTA 5. Now in his 30s, it seems he’s finally ready to break free from the parental nest.
Amanda drops a line that’s got fans buzzing: “Our son (Jimmy) is finally moving away from home.” Could this be a sly hint that Jimmy may be heading to Vice City in GTA 6? Rockstar loves to sprinkle in these subtle setups, and fans are definitely taking note.
During the intro cutscene, Amanda says, “Michael and I are empty nesters now with too much time on our hands, and our son is finally moving away from home.” It’s a line that has definitely caught the eyes of a lot of players. There are even whispers that Jimmy has been sending out texts to players about him “moving out of state,” although that interaction seems a bit buggy or maybe even pulled.
Of course, with GTA 6 theorizing at fever pitch, many fans are convinced this could be Rockstar’s clever way of hinting at Jimmy possibly appearing in the sequel. The series has a history of resurrecting minor characters—after all, who could forget how Trevor was introduced through the violent demise of another GTA IV character? So reuniting with Jimmy in Vice City doesn’t seem like a stretch at all.
In an interesting twist, before the arrival of GTA 6, Rockstar has also dropped new merchandise for GTA, Red Dead Redemption, and Bully, just in time for the holidays.
