Silent Hill f immerses players in a world filled with unsettling sights and eerie sounds, and the actor behind the main character, Hinako, is no exception to its spine-chilling effects. On the official Silent Hill f YouTube channel, you can witness approximately 90 minutes of Hinako’s voice actor, Konatsu Kato, navigating the game’s beginning, visibly distressed by the grotesque visuals and audibly exhaling in frustration after being defeated in battles. Her facial reactions are truly hilarious, albeit I’m aware of the twinge of guilt that comes with finding humor in her reactions. Nonetheless, here are some of my standout moments:

The full stream can be viewed below. Although it’s in Japanese, the machine-generated subtitles offer some likely inaccurate yet amusing commentary that enhances the viewing experience. One of my favorite moments comes at about 55:30, when Kato examines a bloody mask, recoiling in horror, only to flip it over and react with even greater disgust upon seeing the face.

* Silent Hill f actor expressed feeling her “sanity slipping” during recording, stating, “there were times when I would burst into tears” as the production weighed heavily on her.
* After playing Silent Hill f for five hours, I’m finally connecting with its terrified heroine and making notes for Resident Evil Requiem.
* The combat in Silent Hill f is centered around tension: “You have to be aware of how close your candle is to extinguishing to feel that intense pressure.”
At one point, she exclaims, “No, no, no, I don’t want to do anything. What is this? What? What? What?” Following this, a chase scene unfolds where Kato, clearly terrified, nearly reaches her limit, saying things like, “I can’t take this anymore,” and “How long should I do this?” When confronted by her pursuer, she pleads, “stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, wait a minute, stop.”
While this might seem a bit mean-spirited, I’ll wrap things up here. Looking ahead, it appears Kato intends to continue with the game, as indicated by the title of the next video, Silent Hill f #1, suggesting that this impactful experience hasn’t deterred her entirely.
In related news, the producer of the Silent Hill franchise revealed that Konami chose to announce the remakes of SH2, f, and Townfall simultaneously so that fans could “feel how serious we were” about revitalizing the horror series.
