Valve Reveals 2025’s Top-Selling Steam Games
As the year wraps up, Valve has once again unveiled its much-anticipated year-end charts, showcasing the top-selling games on Steam for 2025. This year, it’s notable to see indie hits sharing the spotlight with heavy-hitting franchises that usually dominate these lists.
Steam’s ranking highlights the top-grossing new releases from this past year, with an impressive 12 games making the Platinum tier based on revenue. Here’s the rundown of the standout titles, presented in no particular order:
- Elden Ring
- Nightreign
- EA FC 26
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
- Borderlands 4
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Arc Raiders
- Dune Awakening
- Hollow Knight Silksong
- Battlefield 6
- Schedule 1
- The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
- Civilization 7
Within this elite group, only three titles—Hollow Knight Silksong, Oblivion Remastered, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2—stand out as purely single-player experiences. It’s quite an achievement, especially considering that the rankings are revenue-driven, and these three games don’t rely on endless microtransactions or battle passes to rake in profits.
The upcoming Steam Winter Sale 2025 is poised to offer discounts on some of the finest indie titles, alongside whatever Nightreign has to offer. A staggering over 5,000 games launched on Steam this year didn’t even manage to make back the $100 fee for listing, according to recent estimates.
Our weekly indie game coverage, from Dispatch to Spilled and Peak, has revealed an exciting array of surprises throughout 2025.
What’s even more astounding is that two indie gems, Hollow Knight Silksong and Schedule 1, soared past numerous AAA contenders this year without the backing of a publisher, a hefty budget, or a full-price tag. Both are typically priced around $20, which means they needed to sell millions more copies to match the earnings of their $60-70 counterparts.
In addition to the Platinum tier, this year’s Game of the Year winner, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, alongside Doom: The Dark Ages, has made its mark in the Gold tier. Despite being available on Game Pass, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 couldn’t quite outshine its formidable rival, Battlefield 6. It’s worth noting that COD is also on Battle.net, leaving some ambiguity around how the two blockbuster shooters measure up in terms of sales.
