REPO has unveiled its substantial update known as “The Monster Update,” which introduces ten new foes into the game. For some time, the developers have been teasing this significant upgrade, however, they had chosen to remain somewhat reticent about the specifics prior to launch. One intriguing detail that emerged was the ability to “twerk enemies to death,” which certainly caught players’ attention. Earlier this month, the developers hinted that the update would “reinvigorate the entire gameplay loop,” transforming the comedic multiplayer horror experience into more of “an authentic horror game.” With the arrival of “The Monster Update,” it’s clear why the community has been buzzing about this new season. The announcement on the game’s Steam page declares version 0.3.0 welcomes an abundance of monsters and substantial content.
New Features and Gameplay Enhancements
As the main attraction, the update brings ten additional enemies to the existing roster, which previously included 19 monsters. The launch trailer gave a sneak peek at some of these new creatures, featuring Pontus Sundström, the head of marketing for REPO, exploring an abandoned house and reviewing footage of the monsters via a camcorder, all while being hunted down by one particularly eerie antagonist. Among the most notable additions is a bizarre spider-like creature that appears to have a brain for a body and conspicuously large lips.
The update also introduces fresh gameplay mechanics, including the Tumble Grab—this playful “twerk enemies to death” ability—and a feature called Death Head Possession, which enables players to inhabit their own head temporarily when equipped with a Death Head Battery. In addition, the game maps have received updates, bringing in new treasures—up to 24 for Swift Broom Academy—and additional rooms, like the Museum of Human Art, which includes 20 new areas. Alongside these exciting changes, players will benefit from various balance updates and bug fixes.
What’s Next for REPO?
This update signals a new dawn for REPO as it aims to enhance the horror experience while maintaining its comedic edge. Players can expect to encounter challenges from the latest monsters and enjoy the revamped gameplay mechanics. Stay tuned for more updates and features coming soon.
