Activision’s long-awaited Call of Duty movie is finally progressing, now with a director and writer on board. According to a recent press statement from Paramount, Peter Berg has been chosen to direct, write, and produce the film, alongside Taylor Sheridan, who will also take on writing and producing duties. The upcoming live-action film aims to captivate its vast global audience by staying true to the beloved elements of the series while simultaneously reaching out to new viewers.
Berg is widely recognized for his work on the sports drama Friday Night Lights, which starred Taylor Kitsch, as well as for directing major films like Hancock featuring Will Smith and Deepwater Horizon. Sheridan is renowned for crafting successful series such as Yellowstone, along with Tulsa King and Landman. The duo previously teamed up on the critically acclaimed Western film Hell or High Water, which garnered four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay.

The concept for a Call of Duty movie was first revealed in 2015, originally directed by Stefano Sollima, with plans for a 2019 release.
