Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is set to return for a second season on Netflix. This animated series brings to life the beloved Splinter Cell stealth game franchise, where players step into the shoes of special agent Sam Fisher, engaging in covert operations for a US black ops entity known as Third Echelon. The show is helmed by Derek Kolstad, famous for the John Wick series, in partnership with Ubisoft, and co-directed by Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage. Liev Schreiber will reprise his role as the voice of Sam Fisher, joined by Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Zinnia Mckenna.

Netflix’s official synopsis states, “In this first-ever adaptation of the acclaimed stealth video game franchise Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, legendary agent Sam Fisher is drawn back into the field when a wounded young operative seeks out his help.” The series is produced alongside Ubisoft, with contributions from Derek Kolstad, Sun Creature, and Fost.

The last installment in the Splinter Cell video game series was launched in 2013, marking the conclusion of a streak that had begun with its initial release in 2002, which had generated seven sequels and spin-off titles, along with an ongoing series of novels. It’s worth noting that while the franchise carries Tom Clancy’s name, he did not write the novels; rather, he lent his endorsement after the success of the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon titles. Despite the long hiatus since the 2013 release of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Ubisoft continues to foster hopes for the franchise’s revival, as alterations to plot points in the first season of Splinter Cell: Deathwatch were influenced by the developer having “other plans” for the franchise.
