Latest Update: It appears that IGN may have jumped the gun, as the date they shared had been previously listed on the online store. The publication has since corrected their information, indicating an error on their part. We will keep you posted as soon as a new pre-order date is revealed. Our apologies for any confusion.
Nintendo had intended to commence pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 in North America as of April 9. However, following the cancellation of global tariffs by Donald Trump, the company based in Kyoto opted to postpone the pre-order launch for this eagerly awaited console. Now, the My Nintendo Store has adjusted its website to announce that select members of Nintendo Switch Online will receive invitations for pre-orders in May, with emails expected to be dispatched on May 8. It’s likely that other retailers will also initiate their pre-orders around this time, akin to what has transpired in other global markets.
“The first batch of invitations will go out starting May 8, 2025, with additional batches of invitation emails sent periodically until purchasing on My Nintendo Store is opened to everyone.”
