Oblivion Remastered Players Can Now Get a Job – Seriously!
It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since Bethesda Game Studios unveiled the much-anticipated remake, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Yet, creative players are still managing to breathe new life into this classic RPG—and believe it or not, they’re adding… jobs? Sure, we all know that working isn’t exactly anyone’s idea of fun (who signed up for the grind, right?), but if you’re the Hero of Kvatch, the game just made it easier to maintain those Septims. A fresh download over on Nexus Mods lets you pick up contracts and contribute to society all while still hunting down that next quest. I’m kind of in love with this idea—forget the 9-to-5, I’m becoming a guard!
The mod, aptly titled Jobs of Oblivion, allows players to snag job contracts at inns from over 130 different clients. You can gear up with new work-related equipment and dive into roles like a harvester, jeweler, painter, builder, hunter, or yes, even a guard. Seriously, someone go tell that player who spent eons trying to snag the Palace Guard’s armor that they can now work alongside them!
As for payment, it depends on the job and the client. For example, if you take on a contract as a jeweler, expect a heftier paycheck due to the value of the materials you’ll be working with. Painters, on the other hand, are in for less, but their materials are a lot easier to come by. Completing a job 100% is mandatory, but thankfully, you can take an occasional break—because hey, who doesn’t want to kick back a bit?
While it’s debatable whether Tamriel has actual workers’ rights, the fact remains: this mod allows you to work, and even more roles are on the way! Players seem to be enjoying Jobs of Oblivion with numerous reviews singing its praises. One player noted that it “adds so much immersion to the game.” I’m sold—who wouldn’t want to balance some virtual work right after doing their real-life grind? With over 3,000 people already feeling the same, it might just be time to hit that download button.
