Later this month, REPO is set to transform its co-op gameplay by introducing a major update focused on pure horror elements, according to insights shared by the developers at semiwork. In a recent development update video, viewers receive an exclusive look at semiwork’s studio in Sweden, where team members discuss the challenges and creative processes behind designing new monsters for the game. The spotlight is on the anticipated update scheduled for October 30.
“The toughest challenge often lies in crafting something genuinely captivating while ensuring it remains engaging over time,” explained a developer from REPO, who chose to stay anonymous. “Our aim is for REPO to avoid becoming merely a game for streamers, where players encounter something thrilling once but lose interest upon replaying.”
New Secrets and Challenges Await
The developers have expressed a desire to keep some elements of the upcoming update under wraps. They hinted at unleashing a plethora of new monsters, stating, “Some of these will truly make your gaming experience a nightmare.”
Exciting New Features
Recently, the team disclosed an intriguing “tumble-grab” mechanic, which allows players to “twerk enemies to death,” a feature they humorously note might “break our game.”
What’s Coming in REPO?
Despite the buzz, no entirely new monsters were revealed in the video, although eagle-eyed viewers might spot an unsettling centipede-like creature around the 2:35 mark. The video primarily focused on the monster creation process and the overall mood of the forthcoming update.
“We hope players perceive these changes as refreshing additions to the game,” remarked Axel Landén, semiwork’s co-CEO. “Our goal is not just to recycle old foes with a fresh coat of paint, but to truly revitalize the entire gameplay experience.”
An additional developer emphasized that the game will embrace a “real horror experience now… more so than it has before.” This contrasts sharply with the previous communication from semiwork, which introduced the quirky “tumble-grab” feature.
