Although there’s still a month until the release of Elden Ring: Nightreign, and a year before The Duskbloods is set to debut, you can pass the time by diving into a classic FromSoftware title that has been transformed to support nearly full five-player co-op gameplay.
Renowned modder Yui has previously enhanced the multiplayer experiences in games such as Elden Ring, Armored Core VI, Dark Souls III, and Sekiro – essentially becoming a savior for players wanting to face challenges together. Now, they have redirected their skills toward Dark Souls Remastered.
The description of the Seamless Co-Op mod states, “Fundamentally, this mod enables players to team up with friends throughout all parts of the game without limitations,” and unlike the original version, “it is theoretically feasible to journey from the tutorial all the way to the final boss in a single co-op session.” In essence, you won’t be kicked out of the game if you die or if you defeat a boss.
Yui has provided a showcase of the mod in a walkthrough video, displaying genuine co-op gameplay in Dark Souls. It’s important to note that the mod is currently in “early release,” so you may encounter occasional glitches or bugs.
It appears to be an enjoyable way of engaging with the challenging atmosphere of the game alongside friends, until Elden Ring: Nightreign introduces a revamped experience, allowing up to three players to explore the Lands Between starting May 30. Additionally, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the well-known director at FromSoftware, is developing The Duskbloods, a PvPvE title featuring eight-player matches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, slated for next year.
