Rumors have been circulating that the Silent Hill 2 remake, developed by Bloober Team and Konami, might feature its own version of “Born from a Wish,” a storyline that shifts focus to Maria instead of James. However, these claims are likely unfounded. Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, the voice actress portraying both Mary and Maria, seems to put these speculations to rest during a recent Silent Hill 2 playthrough on Twitch. She stated, “I’m not going to announce any Born from a Wish thing,” clarifying, “I’ve been waiting for Konami to say something… I even asked Bloober if they were going to say something, but we have not recorded anything for Born from a Wish – I am so sorry.”
Her comments have understandably disappointed the Silent Hill community, which had been buzzing with rumors and alleged leaks about a potential “Born from a Wish” DLC. For those not familiar with the original Silent Hill 2, “Born from a Wish” was included in an extended edition, featuring a bonus scenario where players take on the role of Maria. To date, there has been no official word from Bloober or Konami regarding the introduction of this scenario as DLC for the remake.
Nonetheless, Gunnarsdóttir’s stream offered more than just a dose of reality; she also shared some intriguing behind-the-scenes insights.

In a clip shared during her gameplay, Gunnarsdóttir discussed her motion capture work for one of James’ adversaries, the unsettling Lying Figure. “I did this, the movement of the Lying Figure there. I did the mocap for that, and fell onto a mat, on a gymnastics floor… but they definitely made it better in post [processing],” she joked, reminiscing about the “massive chunky heels” she had to wear for the role.
Any dedicated Silent Hill fan would find her full stream engaging, as Gunnarsdóttir provides valuable insights not only about the game but also about the development process behind the highly anticipated remake. Fans engage in lively discussions about various character designs, whether it be in Marvel’s Rivals or The Witcher 3. Interestingly, Silent Hill 2’s developers provided a cautionary note 24 years ago: “Maria was sexier when we first started out, but her plunging neckline gave us too many technical problems.”
