Stardew Valley’s Nintendo Switch 2 version dropped unexpectedly over the holidays, catching many players off guard. Creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is urging gamers to hold off on crafting specific recipes for the time being. After announcing the Switch 2 edition back in September and then going silent for months, the launch on Christmas Day finally gave players a taste of the enhanced graphics and improved framerates—well, sort of. The update mainly added mouse controls and a 4-player split-screen feature.
Unfortunately, the port came with its own set of hiccups, and Barone acknowledged these issues during the holiday period. As a result, the release of the European version is now delayed until the necessary fixes are in place.
On Twitter, Barone recently shared: “A patch to fix the crafting bug and add improvements to the mouse controls on the NS2 edition of Stardew Valley is coming soon. I’ll hold off releasing the NS2 edition in the EU until this patch is ready, since the crafting bug can cause you to lose items.” He went on to caution players against crafting certain recipes that could lead to unexpected item consumption. For those determined to proceed, he advised: “If you need to craft these, empty your inventory of everything except the required ingredients, and don’t use the workbench.”
Barone specified that the crafting bug also affects the original Switch version, which will be patched concurrently. While he didn’t provide a precise timeline for when these fixes will roll out, he did mention they’re “coming soon.” So, for now, players in Europe will have to hang tight a little longer for the full experience—which, admittedly, is quite a bummer but hopefully doesn’t stretch out too long.
In the meantime, the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 update could be a major one. Barone has hinted that “there’s lots more” good stuff on the horizon.
