This year’s findings indicate a decrease in popularity for the battle royale genre, which features popular titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends. Gamer engagement has dropped from 19% in 2021 to just 12% in 2024. However, there is a silver lining for Epic Games, as Fortnite’s dominance within the battle royale space has surged from a 43% market share in 2021 to a staggering 77% in 2024. On a positive note, the role-playing game genre has shown signs of growth, increasing its market share from 9% in 2021 to 13% in 2024.
