Developer Team Cherry has recently uploaded a fresh batch of screenshots for Hollow Knight: Silksong to its listing on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. These images showcase some of the subtle improvements the Metroidvania sequel has made throughout its six-year development journey.
The discovery was made by indie game developer and Hollow Knight enthusiast mossbag, who revealed that the latest Silksong screenshots indicate that Team Cherry is enhancing the game’s shadows and overall vibrancy. However, unless you are an ardent Silksong supporter who revels in each tiny update, you might need to squint a bit to truly notice the game’s evolution.
When comparing the current visuals of Silksong to those from the 2019 trailer, the changes are rather understated. Mossbag points out in a Twitter post that the game has undergone “quite the transformation!” while contrasting an older image of the dusty city of Bellhart with a more recent one.

The area appears to boast graphics with greater contrast, alongside finer details—copper beams of light now subtly glow, resembling soft reflections, in contrast to their previously brighter, more exaggerated appearance.
Overall, it’s evident that Silksong retains its beautiful aesthetic while maintaining its core design. This reality may leave fans eager to obtain what looks like an almost finished game immediately. Yet many in the community, who have patiently awaited updates for so long, are simply relieved to see tangible progress in Silksong’s development.
One lively reply on Twitter excitedly notes, “They’re deadass marketing the game. We’re getting this game, pals.”
Hollow Knight: Silksong’s fan community is buzzing with anticipation, with one popular account stating: “There’s a part of me that’s not ready for the end.”
