It’s been quite a while since League of Legends featured its Winter map, with the last appearance in 2018. However, this beloved festive rendition of Summoner’s Rift is set to return in 2025. In a light-hearted reveal video, League’s executive producer, Paul Bellezza, made a playful snow angel while announcing this exciting news. He acknowledged the lengthy gap since the last Snowdown event, attributing the delay to technical difficulties, stating, “our tech and tools need some work.”
Bellezza also pointed out that while the Northern Hemisphere is officially in Winter (despite it being fall currently), the Southern Hemisphere is basking in the Summer sun. He concluded with an enthusiastic, “Because you really asked for it, we’re just gonna do it anyway. Winter map is coming back, everyone.”
Upcoming Patch Details
While specifics are still emerging, we do know that the winter-themed version of Summoner’s Rift will debut in patch 25.23, scheduled for release on November 19. Past celebrations have introduced an array of holiday-themed skins, limited-time events, and seasonal rewards alongside the Winter map. From the teaser video, it’s clear that the map will showcase the traditional festive decorations: think colorful lights, cheerful snowmen, presents, candy canes, snow globes, and even the peculiar three-headed monsters.
