Deltarune Chapter 5: What We Know So Far
We don’t have an exact release date for Deltarune Chapter 5 just yet, but Toby Fox, the game’s creator, is confidently saying it will drop this year. In a recent Twitter update, he expressed his excitement, stating, “Happy 2026 everybody! Deltarune Chapter 5 is on track to release later this year!” He followed that up with a tantalizing preview of some dialogue, which has fans buzzing with anticipation.
The teaser includes various character lines lifted from a translation sheet. Among the snippets shared, there’s Koody chatting about a worm, some playful action text like “you used the Annoying Dog,” and even a move that’s reportedly “deployed like an off-brand missile.” Additionally, characters like Seam hint at exploring Shadow Crystals and other backstory elements, and Susie gets in on the action by asking about your favorite horror movie.
While the wait might feel long, Fox has noted that Deltarune Chapter 5 is still “several months” away but reassured fans that “progress is going excellently.” Feedback from those who’ve had a chance to play early versions seems overwhelmingly positive, with some friends of Fox expressing excitement: “I am still thinking about it a lot and want to play it more.”
As expected, fans have been dissecting the dialogue snippets. One user quipped, “Putting that Seam dialogue front and center on the image because he knows people will go insane over it so why even bother pretending to be sneaky?” Another added, “Everyone losing it over the shadow crystal stuff and I can’t stop thinking about The Way of the Worm.” And one fan, possibly in a frenzy, asked, “TOBY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? THAT’S SHADOW CRYSTAL LORE??? AND MENTIONING DESS??? SEAM????????”
Throughout 2025, Fox made it clear that the fifth chapter wouldn’t be arriving in the first half of 2026, especially considering that Chapters 3 and 4 launched in the summer of 2025, four years after Chapter 2. However, with each installment that’s come out, the gaps seem to be narrowing, and Fox’s recent updates hopefully indicate that things are progressing smoothly behind the scenes.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates as they roll in!
