The Elder Scrolls 6 might be a bit far off, but Todd Howard has offered a sliver of hope for fans waiting on this anticipated sequel. In his latest chat, he revealed that development is “progressing really well,” with “the majority” of the studio focused on it. This comes after some mixed messages about Fallout 76 taking the spotlight, but Howard cleared that up, emphasizing that the next installment of Elder Scrolls truly has the studio’s attention.
“[Elder Scrolls 6 is] progressing really well,” Howard shared with Game Informer. “The majority of the studio’s on VI, but I’ll say this: We always overlap. So, we’re very used to overlapping development. We have long pre-productions on things so that we feel good about them. It’s a process. We all wish it went a little bit faster – or a lot faster – but it’s a process that we want to get right.”
However, for fans eagerly waiting on more substantial updates, this kind of information might not be enough. With Skyrim celebrating its 14th anniversary and the palpable anticipation for Elder Scrolls 6 growing year by year, Howard’s acknowledgment that it’s “still a long way off” stings a bit. The game was announced back in 2018 with a teaser at E3, and as the years pass, the longing for news becomes more intense.
So while we’ve got a long wait ahead, if you’re itching for that Elder Scrolls vibe in the meantime, here are some games reminiscent of Skyrim to keep you entertained until the next journey in Tamriel comes to life.
