Capcom has recently introduced a highly anticipated first free update for Monster Hunter Wilds, featuring a new limited-time event quest that brings back the beloved “baby Pukei-Pukei.” This charming little bird can now be worn as part of head armor.
The adorable creature gained popularity back in 2024 when it was discovered that what fans referred to as the baby Pukei-Pukei was merely a common bird, much to the chagrin of the gaming community. Fast forward to today, and this same bird is making a triumphant return, but this time as a reward in Monster Hunter Wilds’ latest event quest titled “When Do Quematrice Sing?” This quest will be available until April 22 (or until April 23 in BST), allowing players to earn the small beast as headgear.
Capcom announced the event and its delightful reward through a recent online post, humorously naming it the “baby Pukei-Pukei” before clarifying that it is actually referred to as the “Amstrigian α head armor.” Alongside their announcement, they shared a screenshot showing the armor worn by characters in-game, featuring a quirky bird perched on a hunter’s head, its beak open in what could arguably be the cutest expression seen in any video game.
Fans are already enthusiastically responding to the news, with comments like “Say less” and “GIMMIE,” showcasing their excitement over the return of the baby Pukei-Pukei. Furthermore, this enthusiasm coincides with the first significant milestone on Monster Hunter Wilds’ roadmap, marked by the introduction of the eagerly awaited Title Update 1. There’s more to look forward to, including anticipated “balance changes” and the game’s inaugural seasonal event.
Our review of Monster Hunter Wilds highlights its engaging gameplay, story, and “diverse cast of both new and returning monsters.” It appears the game is on track to enhance its offerings even further as time passes.
