The anticipation surrounding The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered could be viewed as one of the gaming industry’s best-kept secrets at the moment. Despite various rumors about its launch date and even some supposedly leaked images surfacing online, there hasn’t been an official announcement regarding this new RPG yet.
Interestingly, the official Xbox Support account seems to be somewhat confused, as it has allegedly provided a release date and additional details to users via direct messages when asked.
One would be forgiven for assuming that the remaster of Oblivion had been officially confirmed, but the situation remains steeped in speculation and leak rumors. Recently, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb hinted that the title is real and might be set for a surprise launch next week, suggesting it could be both announced and playable immediately.
On the same front, a wave of purported in-game screenshots allegedly sourced from the website of game developer Virtuos emerged yesterday. Following this, Tom Warren from The Verge remarked that the game should release “soon,” estimating that late April would be the timeframe.
It appears the Xbox Support account may be sharing release details earlier than intended. Multiple users on Twitter report that they have received responses containing new information about this presumed remaster, including a rumored release date of April 21, aligning with earlier whispers.
This revelation was first brought to light by @Ser_Raven18, who shared a series of screenshots and a video recording of their conversation with an Xbox Support live agent. During this exchange, the representative not only mentioned the date of April 21 but also confirmed that this RPG will be available as a day-one launch title on Xbox Game Pass, set to launch on both the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

In a similar vein, news outlet @SynthPotato reportedly also managed to get a response that confirmed this date and provided further insights regarding the content of the RPG. Allegedly, it was stated that “this version will include all the DLCs from the original game, allowing players to fully enjoy the experience with upgraded visuals and improved gameplay.”
Meanwhile, another Twitter user, @CptTekashi, disclosed that they received a similar response but were also informed that the game’s expansions would be included in the Deluxe Edition, while the remaster itself would feature only the base game. This presents a slight inconsistency in messaging.

Despite the compelling nature of this evidence, it’s prudent to approach it cautiously without an official announcement for the game. Although all shared discussions mention that a live agent is addressing the queries, the wording of some responses has raised suspicions about whether a bot might be involved in these replies, which could undermine the reliability of the information provided.
I reached out to Xbox Support myself to verify if they would confirm the April 21 release for Oblivion Remastered, but after waiting for over an hour, I have yet to receive a reply. It’s possible that since the initial findings, the agents have tightened the flow of information to curb any further leaks. Should I receive any updates, I will be sure to share them.
