DaVinci Resolve 20 has introduced capabilities for editing Apple Immersive Video.
During WWDC 2024, Blackmagic revealed its plans to integrate support for Apple’s immersive format into its widely-used professional video editing software. Now, just two months ahead of WWDC 2025, that commitment is coming to fruition.
The currently available public beta of DaVinci Resolve 20 allows users to “edit, color grade, mix, and professionally deliver” Apple Immersive Video, including the ability to mix spatial audio specifically designed for it.
Additionally, Blackmagic is gearing up to begin shipping the URSA Cine Immersive, a $30,000 Apple Immersive Video camera that became available for preorder in December.
Apple Immersive Video has emerged as a prominent content format for the Vision Pro, showcasing stunning visuals on its micro-OLED displays. However, all current content is produced by Apple using proprietary in-house cameras, which significantly restricts the volume of new content. With Blackmagic’s innovative camera paired with DaVinci Resolve 20, any studio interested can start generating Apple Immersive Video content, potentially leading to an influx of offerings for owners of Vision Pro, and it is anticipated that future, more affordable Apple Vision headsets will also support this content.
