Amazon MGM has informed us that RoboCop: Streets of Anarchy was not officially licensed prior to its announcement, and the website for the VR title has since been removed.
A couple of weeks ago, RoboCop: Streets of Anarchy was unveiled on the website of developer Coffee Moth Games. Initially, the title was suggested to be developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios for Quest 3 and PC VR platforms. However, the studio later corrected this error, stating that the VR game would actually be exclusive to arcades.
Recent information indicates that the game may never have received the official go-ahead to proceed. An Amazon MGM representative contacted us last night to clarify that there is currently no agreement in place with Coffee Moth Games. Additionally, Amazon MGM specified that the rights to RoboCop have not been granted to that studio, leading to the removal of the RoboCop: Streets of Anarchy website.
Following the website’s initial launch two weeks ago, we reached out to Coffee Moth Games to seek clarification on the release details as concerns arose regarding the game’s potential launch. In a subsequent email, a representative from the developer confirmed that they are working with a third-party outsourcing company and did not directly interact with Amazon MGM. However, they stated, “the company responsible for contracting the rights from Amazon MGM contacted us for the game’s development.”
Since that time, the webpage for RoboCop: Streets of Anarchy has been taken down and is now locked behind a password. We have reached out to Coffee Moth Games again for further updates on this situation and will provide more information as it becomes available.
