Bigscreen has announced that it has surpassed its initial sales figures for the Beyond 2 headset, achieving greater sales than the original Beyond in its first year.Just 11 days ago, Bigscreen introduced the Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e models, and within a day, the company reported selling more Beyond 2 headsets in the first 24 hours than it did for the Beyond 1 in its first six months, indicating a tenfold increase in units sold.
The first shipments of Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e headsets are expected to commence in April and May, respectively, with new orders scheduled for delivery in June.
Similar to its predecessor, the Beyond 2 and 2e are tethered PC VR headsets utilizing SteamVR Tracking. Users will need a powerful PC equipped with a capable graphics card, along with at least one—ideally two—tracking base stations from Valve or HTC. Users must also supply their own input devices, such as Valve Index controllers or a steering wheel and HOTAS configuration.
In contrast to the original model, the Beyond 2 features clearer and wider lenses with independent IPD adjustments, all while being 20 grams lighter. The Beyond 2e model further incorporates eye tracking through a minuscule addition of just 1.05 grams of sensors.
The initial Bigscreen Beyond has been adopted by 0.45% of SteamVR users after two years since its launch, translating to about 1 in 200 VR users on the Steam platform. We will monitor the adoption rate of Beyond 2 closely in the upcoming months, as its impressive sales trajectory suggests it may outpace the original by year’s end.
