Developed by Gaijin Entertainment, the creators behind War Thunder, Aces of Thunder is a flight simulation game that prioritizes realism with “physically accurate flight and damage models.” The game will feature an array of iconic aircraft from both World War I and World War II. The latest gameplay trailer showcased intricate cockpits, advanced physics, and thrilling combat scenarios.
Upon release, Aces of Thunder will include more than 15 maps across three significant theaters of World War II: the Eastern Front, Western Europe, and the Pacific. Players can also expect to see the previously unveiled WW1 planes, including the Fokker DR.I, which features fuselage-mounted machine guns not found on World War II aircraft. The roster will also include various models from Soviet, US, and other nations, and Gaijin Entertainment is undertaking a series of weekly highlights.
Initially, Aces of Thunder was slated for release in Q4 2024, but this has since been postponed to 2025 due to the studio’s decision to enhance the game with “more content than we initially planned.” Although the November delay mentioned that an exact release date would be announced early next year, the recent trailer did not provide updated timing.
Aces of Thunder is aimed for a 2025 release on PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR.
