The upcoming title, Wallace & Gromit in the Grand Getaway, is set to launch on Steam and PlayStation VR2.
This game first debuted in 2023 for Quest, telling a fresh story where the beloved characters find themselves stuck on Mars, aided by Wallace’s new Robo Caddy with a golfing twist and an AI companion named Beryl. Developed collaboratively by Aardman, No Ghost, and Atlas V, the new listings on store pages have confirmed its arrival on PC VR and PS VR2.
It is reasonable to assume that these new versions will not include the mixed reality experience found in the Quest edition, Jamtastic!, where Wallace tries out his ‘jam-to-toast delivery system.’ According to the store descriptions, only the primary campaign is highlighted, and mixed reality seems to remain a feature of standalone VR devices.
In our review of Grand Getaway on Quest, we shared favorable thoughts, praising its enjoyable gameplay while pointing out some flaws in Jamtastic! and the occasional technical hiccup.
Wallace & Gromit In The Grand Getaway successfully translates Aardman’s iconic films into the VR realm, but minor issues leave room for enhancement. While Jamtastic! could stand to be more thrilling, and the main storyline experiences some glitches, this delightful adventure captures the essence of the series, brimming with wit and character.
