A fresh anthology of mixed reality and VR experiences named Wonder is set to launch on Quest 3 and 3S.
Crafted by the Vancouver-based studio Metanaut, Wonder is an innovative exploration application designed to “infuse magic and serenity into your everyday environments” while providing a much-needed “escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.” This project marks the latest effort from the Gadgeteer studio, which previously introduced a mixed reality feature to their physics-driven puzzle game last November.
Wonder features three unique experiences, each lasting approximately 20 minutes. In Ancient Ruins, your surroundings transform into an enigmatic cave that is eventually engulfed by a black hole. Jellyfish Bloom offers an underwater escapade where glowing jellyfish illuminate the ocean depths. Lastly, Parallel Worlds showcases reality-warping portals that create alternate renditions of your space with ice and dots, among other elements.
Each of these experiences employs contactless hand-tracking interactions, which can be enjoyed in seated, standing, or room-scale configurations exclusively on Quest 3. As shared by Metanaut’s founder, Peter Kao, the goal is to deliver visually stunning graphics crafted from scanned room meshes and “advanced rendering techniques.”
A precise launch date is expected to be revealed “in the coming weeks,” with Wonder slated to arrive on the Meta Quest 3 family this spring, priced at $3.99.
