To make caviar in Stardew Valley, you will need 1 sturgeon roe that you will place inside a Preserves Jar. Once you’ve placed it in there, wait for 4 days, and you will get caviar.

You can place it anywhere on the farm to start using it.

How to Get Sturgeon Roe in Stardew Valley

Unfortunately, getting sturgeon roe is going to be a harder challenge. Here are all the things you will need to get this resource:

The sturgeon is a fish that you can catch at the mountain lake next to the mines during the Summer and Winter. The best time to catch this fish is during rainy Summer days. You should try to aim for the deeper parts of the lake to catch the sturgeon.

Since you don’t really need to catch it to place it inside the Fish Pond, you can also frequent Krobus’ shop and the Traveling Cart to see if they are selling sturgeon that day.

Krobus will sell you the sturgeon for 200 g, while the Traveling Merchant can sell it to you for a price of around 600 to 1k g.

Once you get your sturgeon, you will need to place it inside a Fish Pond. You can get this building from the Carpenter’s Shop by paying 5k g, 200 stone, 5 seaweed, and 5 green algae.

If you have an empty pond on your farm, just place the sturgeon inside and start the quest to increase the size of the pond. You should increase the number of sturgeon you hold inside the Fish Pond since you only have a 5% chance per day to get sturgeon roe with a single fish inside.

Getting to 7 sturgeon fish should be more than enough to guarantee they will give you the much-needed roe. You will have around a 50% chance per day to get 1 sturgeon roe.

Other Ways to Get Caviar in Stardew Valley

If you don’t want to spend time getting a sturgeon, making a Fish Pond, and raising the fish to get its roe, you can also get caviar in Stardew Valley by purchasing it.

However, you can only get it from the Traveling Cart. The Traveling Merchant will sell you caviar for around 1.5k to 2.5k g. However, it is impossible to figure out when she might have caviar in stock.

So, if you want to get caviar right now, then use the previous method to make it yourself. However, if you just need one for the JojaMart bundle, then you can just do your thing and visit the Traveling Cart every Friday and Sunday to check the stock.
