If you’re running low on storage space for your Xbox, WD Black has got you covered with their latest expansion card.
The WD Black C50 Expansion Card for Xbox is now available in two capacities to boost storage on your Xbox Series X|S console. You can choose from the 512GB option priced at $79.99 / £89.99 and the 1TB option priced at $149.99 / £149.99. Both versions are now available for purchase from Western Digital’s online store.
Fortunately, the price is lower than what was initially leaked in April by Best Buy. Initially, the price tag for the WD Black C50 Expansion Card was listed at $179.99 at Best Buy. That price was just a rumor, and now that the actual price is out and much cheaper than expected, it’s an alternative worth considering. It might just be one of the best Xbox Series X accessories you can buy.
While US residents get a better deal, the WD Black C50 Expansion Card is still significantly cheaper than Seagate’s official 1TB card, which retails at $219.99 / £254.99.
Xbox storage cards are simply inserted into the Storage Expansion port on the back of your Xbox and require no installation. Unlike PS5, users don’t need to open up their Xbox to increase storage capacity. This makes storage expansion cards a convenient way to increase storage, particularly for Xbox Game Pass users who tend to download a lot of games without having to compromise any of their favorites. Keep in mind that storage expansion cards come with a trade-off – they are usually more expensive than a Gen 4 SSD. Nevertheless, with the price of the C50, WD Black is closing the gap.
The Seagate Xbox Storage Expansion Card is commonly discounted, but even its best price on Amazon for the 1TB variant simply matches the retail price of the WD Black C50 Expansion Card. If you’re after a cheaper storage solution from a reputable manufacturer, then the C50 is an excellent choice.
It is interesting to note that the launch of the WD Black C50 Xbox Expansion Card happens right before the Xbox Games Showcase event that is expected to feature new in-game footage. This potentially means that new Xbox Game Pass favorites might be announced at the event.
