The launches of both the Lightfall expansion and the Root of Nightmares raid were praised for their smooth player experience. However, these improvements caused unexpected disruptions to the game’s “Claims” service, which is essential for the game’s functionality.
The Issues with “Claims”
The “Claims” service in Destiny 2 processes gameplay messages, such as enemy kills and item pickups. These messages are sent to specific servers to ensure appropriate responses from the game. While the system now remains functional even under heavy loads, it no longer repairs itself properly, causing communication channels to break. This results in players encountering error codes like Weasel or Baboon. In extreme cases, Bungie has to take down the entire game to restore functionality.
Bungie’s Efforts to Fix the Problem
Bungie reassured players that addressing the issues with the “Claims” service is their top priority. If the Season 22 patch proves successful, Bungie plans to continue making architectural improvements in Season 23, expected to start in early December. These enhancements seek to further stabilize the game and provide a better overall experience for players.
