The Last of Us 2 Remaster for PS5 Leaked by Composer
Gustavo Santaolalla, a well-known composer who worked on the video game series The Last of Us, has potentially leaked that Sony is planning to release a Director’s Cut version or remaster of Part 2 for PlayStation 5. This improved version would include new features. Read on for more details.
Composer Reveals The Last of Us 2 Remaster Details
During an interview with the Spanish YouTube channel BLENDER, the host mentioned the presence of a character resembling the composer in the game. For those who may have missed it, Santaolalla can be found in Jackson during the first chapter of The Last of Us Part 2. In the interview, Santaolalla hinted at the possibility of interacting with his character and requesting specific songs in the rumored Director’s Cut version of the game. However, he mentioned that he couldn’t provide further details at that time.
Rumors about a Director’s Cut of The Last of Us Part 2 have been circulating for several months. If these rumors are true, the game would be optimized specifically for the PS5, taking full advantage of the console’s graphics and performance capabilities instead of being a simple port from the PS4 version.
Similar to the release of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, it is likely that players who already own the base game will have the option to upgrade to the PS5 version at a reduced price if the remaster is released.
Considering the success of the HBO TV series adaptation of The Last of Us, which received 24 Emmy nominations, and the recent release of Part 1 on PC and Steam Deck, creating a Director’s Cut could be an opportunity to not only enhance the already excellent PS5 version but also expand the game’s reach beyond Sony consoles. This would capitalize on the renewed popularity of the franchise and attract a larger audience.
We eagerly await official announcements, which are becoming increasingly likely.
