Note:

Before exploring cross-play in Baldur’s Gate 3, you may want to discover the three most powerful spells and cantrips in the game.

PC and Mac Cross-Platform Multiplayer

According to the official Larian Studios Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer information page, cross-platform multiplayer is available for PC and Mac users. Players on GOG and Steam can connect and play together online.

Missing Cross-Play Between PC/Mac and Consoles

However, on the game’s launch, cross-play between PC/Mac and console players (on PlayStation and Xbox) is not supported. Larian Studios has not confirmed or denied the possibility of introducing this feature in the future. Keep in mind that Baldur’s Gate 3 was in early access development for three years, so anything can happen.

Although cross-play is not available, Baldur’s Gate 3 does offer cross-platform support. This means that you can access your saved game on different platforms, including consoles, PCs, and the Steam Deck. While it’s not precisely cross-play, it’s still a convenient feature to have.

To enjoy cross-platform functionality, simply create a Larian Studios account and sign in. By signing into your Larian Studios account on your current platform, you’ll be able to access your saved games across different devices.

While we can’t predict the future, it is possible that cross-platform multiplayer could be added to Baldur’s Gate 3 on all platforms. For now, playing on PC with friends on consoles is not supported. However, keep in mind that this limitation may not be permanent. In the meantime, you can still enjoy co-op play on PC. Just be aware of a potential co-op bug that may restrict characters to the host’s party.
