Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players a variety of characters in dire situations, and Volo is one such character. This guide will show you how to rescue Volo in the game.
Meeting Volo
You can initially meet Volo in the Emerald Grove region and later encounter him in the Goblin Camp. However, meeting him in the first location is not necessary to meet him in the second one. Regardless of your acquaintance level, you can rescue Volo by outsmarting the goblin who has captured him.
Rescuing Volo
The Goblin Camp is located near the far western edge of the map, west of the Blighted Village. Once you arrive, you’ll notice Volo performing in the center of the camp. Though his performance may not be impressive, it pleases his number one fan and captor, a goblin named Gribbo. To free Volo, follow up after his performance.
Volo is kept in a cage in an upper room at the back of the camp. The area is not very large, so finding the chamber should be relatively easy. Instead of stealing things, it is recommended that you head directly to the upper chamber where you’ll find Volo in his cage with Gribbo nearby.
To convince Gribbo to release Volo, you can approach the matter in a few different ways. One effective approach is using deception, suggesting that Volo won’t last long in the cage. The difficulty class for this option is 10, and a bard with the School of Lore subclass gets a bonus of five points, meaning you only need to roll a five or higher. You can also try reading Gribbo’s mind to find her concerns about keeping Volo captive and use those concerns to persuade her. Alternatively, you can attempt to escape the camp by fighting, although it is not recommended due to the strong goblin presence.
Once you successfully secure Volo’s freedom, he will join your camp. Enjoy playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam!
