Dragon’s Dogma 2 set to release on March 22, 2024
Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 is making a comeback after a decade-long break, set to release on March 22, 2024. During a digital showcase on Tuesday, Capcom revealed the release date and showcased new gameplay details for the much-anticipated sequel.
New Features and Additions
Hideaki Itsuno, director of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the game’s producer, revealed exciting new features and additions coming in the sequel. This includes the introduction of a formidable new foe, the Talos, a massive brass warrior emerging from the sea. The gameplay showcased various strategies for taking down the Talos, from up-close combat to long-range attacks using a variety of weapons and spells.
Introduction of the Trickster Vocation
Capcom also unveiled the addition of a new character class, the Trickster. This Arisen-only vocation possesses the ability to conjure illusions in battle, causing enemies to fight each other and supporting player’s pawns to make them more effective in battles. Described as a “devious vocation,” the Trickster can manipulate battles from the sidelines, offering a unique gameplay experience in the sequel.
Expanding Vocations
The Trickster joins Dragon’s Dogma 2’s previously confirmed vocations: Fighter, Archer, Thief, Mage, Magick Archer, and Mystic Spearhand, providing players with a diverse range of character classes to choose from.
Updated Character Creator
Capcom also showcased its updated character creator, allowing players to customize their Arisen and main Pawn using new photogrammetry technology. This new technology aims to deliver photorealistic player-created avatars in Dragon’s Dogma 2, enhancing the overall gaming experience for the players.
Teaser of the Game’s Story
Developers teased a glimpse of the game’s story, set in a world parallel to the original Dragon’s Dogma. Players, as the Arisen, will find themselves entangled in the beliefs and plots of two rival nations. The game’s story unfolds in Vermund, a human kingdom, where a power struggle for the throne ensues, and in Battahl, where humanoid beasts treat pawns as a source of misfortune. Both nations perceive dragons as a threat to their survival, setting the stage for an epic and immersive storyline.
Available Platforms
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, catering to a wide range of gaming platforms. The original Dragon’s Dogma was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, followed by the expansion Dark Arisen the next year, marking the return of the beloved action-RPG franchise after a long hiatus.
