Max Payne, Alan Wake 2 voice actor James McCaffrey dies aged 65

James McCaffrey, known for his iconic voice work as Max Payne, has passed away at the age of 65.

His Impact on the Video Game World

McCaffrey’s voice was not limited to just the Max Payne series. He also provided his voice for Edward Carnby in 2008’s Alone in the Dark, Zachariah Trench in Remedy’s Control, and most recently voiced Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2.

McCaffrey also made a cameo appearance in the live-action adaptation of Max Payne in 2008 and was recognized for his lead roles in American TV series Vipers and Rescue Me.

Tragic News and Tributes

The news of McCaffrey’s passing was confirmed by TMZ, reporting that he lost his battle with multiple myeloma on December 17th. Actor and colleague Kevin Dillon paid tribute to McCaffrey on Instagram in the early hours of the next day.

McCaffrey is survived by his wife Rochelle Bostrom and daughter Tiernan.
